Really stunning cutting board in high-fired stoneware with periwinkle and cobalt decoration on bright white ground, by Anja Juurikkala for Arabia of Finland circa 1962 -- 13-3/4" long, 7-3/4" wide, 1/2" thick, well marked/signed and in superb condition... looks like this one was used for display only. Born in 1923, Juurikkala is known best for her fairytale monstrous/comical animal sculptures, on view in museums throughout Scandinavia and in public spaces in cities and towns across Finland. Her tenure at Arabia was brief (1959 - 62) so this piece must date from those years...
